NEW SERIES: A workshop and double feature at Radio in Union Square!
On Monday, May 7, Adam Stone will present a 7:00 p.m. workshop at Radio, 397 Somerville Ave. in Union Square, Somerville. An open mic will follow at 8:00, and at 9:00 Adam will share feature time with Emily Carroll. Admission is $5 and the show is 21+.
Adam Stone is an eleven-time competitor at the National Poetry Slam, two-time performer at the Individual World Poetry Slam, and the local Dirty Haiku Champion for 2012. A prolific writer and consummate performer, Adam has provided a weekly writing prompt (“Tips from the Bar“) at the Boston Poetry Slam since 2010, and coordinated a related workshop at the 2011 National Poetry Slam. He is the founder and leader of the Friday Night Sometimes Writing But Mostly Drinking Group.
Adam will serve as the debut workshop leader for the New and Improved Monday series at Radio! A full workshop description is forthcoming for this first night of the series.
Emily Carroll is pursuing a BFA in Writing, Literature, & Publishing from Emerson College, where she is a co-curator and SlamMaster for the Emerson Poetry Project. She has recently completed a thesis project on alternative economic principles in American women’s writing and a collection of poetry focusing on art, language and translation, and diners. The rest of the time she slings coffeepots at a local café. Emily can carry five plates at once, and her favorite things include crunchy leaves and Morgan Freeman.
NEW AND IMPROVED MONDAYS begins on Monday, May 7 at Radio, a new bar and performance space at 379 Somerville Ave., Union Square, Somerville. Doors open for the show at 6:30 p.m. with the workshop beginning at 7:00. Open mic begins at 8:00 and the double-feature will take the stage at 9:00. Cover charge is $5 and the show is 21+.
