JR is more awkward than your awkward friend. He is a proud Belizean and Garinagu. He likes sweaters, Chicago, and telling people that they’re not from Chicago. JR writes poems sometimes, reads them for people less frequently. Hugs stress him out. High fives make him happy. His favorite things are eating rice and beans, listening to hip-hop, and hanging out with his grandmother. His favoritest thing is doing all three at once.
JR stumbled into the Cantab soon after arriving in Boston in 2015. The weekly open mic became a makeshift home. As part of the hosting staff, JR hopes to help provide a sense of community to those in the venue each night.
