Radio Features for Monday, June 18: Claudia Wilson and Antonia Lassar

New and Improved: poetry feature Claudia Wilson.

New and Improved: poetry feature Claudia Wilson.

FEATURED POET: Claudia Wilson is a recent transplant from Columbus, Ohio. Only ten months into her stay here, she has been an open mic standout at the Cantab Lounge and is excited every week to share her poetry. Volunteer, active community member, and candidate for a Master’s degree, Claudia’s reserved reading style belies the power of her words; expect her feature to bring a little activism, a little imagination, and a little quirkiness together in one sassy Columbus-style show.

FEATURED PLAYWRIGHT: Playwright Antonia Lassar has just completed her BFA in Theatre Arts: miraculously, this means she can finally call herself a full time artist! Antonia has already toured the United States and South Africa performing her work: one of her favorite experiences at Boston University was performing her one-woman-show, The God Box, and she is excited to keep making new theatre. A first-time member of the Boston Poetry Slam Team for 2012, she will perform at the National Poetry Slam this August in Charlotte, North Carolina. Antonia will perform a shortened version of The God Box at this feature.

WORKSHOP DESCRIPTION: Antonia will draw on her years of theatre experience combined with her performance poetry chops to create an active workshop focused on the particular needs of the performing poet. She will lead a performance workshop exploring how images in writing can become images in performance. Participants may bring a poem (memorized or not) to workshop, or participate without a particular work in mind.
