FEMS Team

The Boston Poetry Slam’s first FEMS team was formed in September 2019 from the pool of slam winners of the 2018-2019 season. This four-hearted, tender-tongued quatrain of good souls will represent the BPS at the 2019 Feminine Empowerment Movement Slam in October. From left to right, our reps: Yehya Barakat, Brittany Frederick, Myles Taylor, and Joshua Elbaum.

The Feminine Empowerment Movement Slam Tournament is a community-based, grassroots poetry festival that aims to be radically accessible, welcoming people of all ages and incomes, creating affinity spaces, and using venues that are wheelchair accessible and gender inclusive. Yes, it’s feminine, and yes, it’s for you! You can learn more at femslam.com.
