JR Mahung is a Belizean-American poet from the South Side of Chicago. He is an MFA Candidate at The University of Massachusetts Amherst and a 2017 Emerging Poet’s Incubator Fellow. His poetry is published or forthcoming in Cosmonauts Avenue, WusGood, Winter Tangerine and elsewhere. JR is also on the organizing teams for Louder than a Bomb MA youth poetry slam and The Plantain Collection, a poetry reading and conversation series for writers of diaspora. JR is the Boston Poetry Slam’s 2018 World Qualifier Winner, which qualifies him to represent the venue at the Individual World Poetry Slam in San Diego, Calif. Tonight’s cover charge will be $5 to fundraise for JR’s trip expenses.
This show in our weekly Wednesday series takes place at the Cantab Lounge, 738 Massachusetts Ave. in Cambridge. Doors for the show open at 7:15. The open mic begins at 8:00 and the feature performs an extended at approximately 10:00. The show is 18+ (ID required) and the cover charge is $5.
