The Boston Poetry Slam maintains a rotating cast of hosts for the weekly show. This volunteer job is awarded to (or foisted upon) poets who have shown a longstanding commitment to the venue and a talent for efficient, kindly guidance of the open mic. Due to the extreme length of the open mic, and the last-call-last-Red-Line nature of the slam, the goal of the hosting staff is to simply “get out of the way of the poetry,” as stated by co-founding SlamMaster Michael Brown (Ret. 2004).
The hard-working hosts are rewarded with a standard stage slot at the end of the open mic. All the show’s hosts are poets and are available for booking to produce or perform at your show; please see the hosts’ individual pages for biographical and contact information.
