The Boston Poetry Slam maintains a rotating cast of hosts for the weekly show. This volunteer job is awarded to (or foisted upon) poets who have shown a longstanding commitment to the venue and a talent for efficient, kindly guidance of the open mic. Due to the extreme length of the open mic, and the last-call-last-Red-Line nature of the slam, the goal of the hosting staff is to simply “get out of the way of the poetry,” as stated by co-founding SlamMaster Michael Brown (Ret. 2004).
The hard-working hosts are rewarded with a small amount of stage time at the end of the open mic. All the show’s hosts are poets and are available for booking to produce or perform at your show. Please see the hosts’ individual pages for biographical and contact information.
