Catherine Martin, Encyclopedia Show: Somerville director.

Catherine Martin fell in love with poetry when she was thirteen, and fell in love with Boston the moment she set foot in the Cantab Lounge for an open mic night in 2012. Over the years, neither love has wavered, and Catherine is very excited to work with the Boston Poetry Slam to produce The Encyclopedia Show Somerville! Formerly an enthusiastic fan of the show, Catherine is now in charge of it, and hopes it will remain a super-weird, super-cool, super-entertaining fixture in the Boston poetry community that she loves so much.

Catherine holds an English degree from Smith College and a Master’s in Publishing from Emerson College. By day, she is a graphic designer and video editor for a local charter school; by non-work hours, she is a regular reader at the Cantab Lounge, and a frequenter of other excellent poetry open mics in Boston such as Moonlighting and the Haley House Slam. Catherine’s work has been published in literary magazines including Nimrod, the Superstition Review, Drunk in a Midnight Choir, and Else Where magazine.
