Cantab Feature for Wednesday, February 27: CUPSI Warm-Up

Boston Poetry Slam

SCHEDULE CHANGE! Sadly, the performer originally scheduled for tonight won’t be able to make this feature date. We’ll reschedule Amy Everhart as soon as we can, but in the meantime…

Did someone mention CUPSI? We heard that the collegiate national poetry slam tournament is being held in New York this April, and that there’s a ton of Boston teams headed there this year. To help our local students gear up for the competition, we’ll be offering the CUPSI Warm-Up, a 4×4 team slam featuring Emerson College, Simmons College, Harvard University, and one more team TBA.

Here’s the best part: we’re proud to present this slam in conjunction with reVERB, the slam poetry organization at the Berklee College of Music! Ours is only one match in a one-day, two-night extravaganza of workshops, competitions, and meet ‘n’ greets, known as The NorthBEASTer Friendly (click for all the details via Facebook). All students are welcome and we are still actively seeking teams to join in: email slam coach and Berklee Assistant Professor Caroline Harvey for details.

This show in our weekly Wednesday series takes place at the Cantab Lounge, 738 Massachusetts Ave. in Cambridge. Doors for the show open at 7:15. The open mic begins at 8:00 and the slam begins at approximately 10:00. There is no open poetry slam tonight. The show is 18+ (ID required) and the cover charge is $3 ($2 for non-competing NorBEASTer Friendly teams).
